I would like to thank my beloved soul sister Carolyne Burnett for the inspiration for today's words. Find out more about Carolyne at www.youcanloveyourlife.co.uk.
We, as humans, are born with two in built fears; the fear of falling and the fear of loud noises. So how is it that by the time we are adults most of us have more fear than we know what to do with and, more importantly, how can we get rid of it?
Susan Jeffers has a great book entitled, "Feel the fear and do it anyway."
The title tells you the basic context of the book and if you are dealing with fears in your life this book is a must read.
We got our fears from the programming we received as children and throughout our subsequent life. As a small child what is the first thing a parent or adult does when stopping you from reaching for a hot iron or running into a busy road? They shout, we've all done it, so it isn't about making anyone wrong. This shouting taps into one of our primal fears - loud noises. Even if we are too young to know the words, we get the message from the level of the sound. Over the years of our growth this is coupled with needs of those looking after us to behave in a certain way. Thus we learn that to avoid loud noises and the withdrawal of love we must moderate our actions in ways that maintain our well-being. We become fearful of not getting the approval or the rewards and these fears grow and magnify in our sub-conscious mind. We also absorb the fears of our care givers. My sister, Jenny, is powerfully afraid of spiders and I find it interesting that both her daughters have the same fear. We are energy sensing beings operating in a larger energy field so it is no wonder that we absorb these kinds of thoughts, beliefs and feelings.
The great thing is that as adults we can review our thoughts and we can weed out those things that no longer serve us. With fears, often described as 'irrational fears', it is often not as easy as just letting them leave our minds. We may need to do more than replace them with an empowering affirmation, although that can work perfectly well in isolation.
There are many techniques that can work on reprogramming the mind: Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP); Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT); Thought Field Therapy (TFT) and Hypnosis are just the few that spring readily to mind. Trust your inner guidance to lead you to the perfect process or practitioner for your growth, and keep working with the powerful affirmations at the same time.
Remember you are the only thinker in your mind. There is nothing that is thought that can't be un-thought and reprogrammed no matter how deeply entrenched you think you are. If you are willing to change that you can.
Today I allow Spirit to guide me to the perfect resource for my continued growth and expansion. I am willing to release all fears and embrace life with joy and love.
